Hanna’s Bees is run by Hanna Bäckmo, a Cork based beekeeper with a passion for edible gardening, nature, and sustainability.
A hive-to-home business, Hanna’s Bees has several apiaries in East and South Cork, with fifty honeybee colonies producing honey, beeswax, and propolis, for our unique range of products.
Our mouth-wateringly sweet products, which are guaranteed to be 100% Irish, include the popular and reusable beeswax wraps, beautiful honey-scented beeswax candles, propolis tinctures, and an assortment of small-batch delectable honey.
Hanna’s Bees also caters for our vegan customers with a reusable vegan wrap made with plant waxes. All our products are handmade in Cork, Ireland.
At Hanna’s Bees, beekeeping is at the very heart of what we do. Each year, countless hours are devoted to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our beloved honeybees as we passionately believe that their welfare is paramount to the success of our business. The wide array of blossoms that our bees visit is extremely beneficial for their health, and the variety of flowers makes the most exquisite honey. The bees also produce beeswax, which is the natural material we use to create our beeswax wraps, candles, and other beeswax products. We are also proud to be supporting other Irish beekeepers from whom we source some of the Irish beeswax we use in our beeswax wraps, making our wraps a truly Irish product.
Hanna is a registered Primary Producer of Honey with DAFM (Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine). She is a member of County Cork Beekeepers’ Association (CCBKA link), and an affiliated member of the Federation of Irish Beekeepers Associations (FIBKA link). She is also a member of the Native Irish Honey Bee Society (NIHBS link). For the past few years, Hanna has written a monthly column on beekeeping for beginners and improvers in An Beachaire (The Irish Beekeeper), and has been published internationally.
