Welcome to my shop in Ireland. I’m Peter Mooney an Irish-born artist based in Dublin.
Art is my passion and I’ve been an artist and creative for as long as I can remember. Sometimes I’ve expressed myself sometimes through drawing and painting and other times through other media like video photography or drama and set design. I’m married with four kids and 7 grandkids and love to spend time with my family and also travel, play guitar and sing with a local choir. In my early years, I was part of an inner city group of artists and my work was shortlisted for the Arnott’s Artist of the year Award. My work has been displayed publicly in various exhibitions in Dublin. For many years I took part in the St. Stephen's Green ‘Artists on the green’. Before retiring I was actively involved in community arts projects using art, video, drama and set design. I worked with a broad range of groups including disadvantaged youth, travellers, and especially young adults with learning and physical disabilities. As part of my work with Stewarts Hospital and our participation in the St. Patrick’s day parade in Lucan, Co.Dublin we won the Award for ‘Best Float’ twelve years running.
In recent years I’ve had the opportunity to return to creating my own art exploring, many different themes and media. I have a love for the old masters and enjoy copying their techniques to produce beautiful copies with my own twist. The variety of my work includes: One of my most popular series ‘Impressions of famous landmarks in various cities in Ireland’, are available as originals and more recently as beautiful high-quality prints. I have painted the Ha’penny Bridge, Temple Bar and Bewley's Oriental Cafe, the GPO, John Kehoe's pub, Gogarty's etc, etc. If you would like me to paint a particular Landmark please message me through SII. I’ve also has a series of old masters works including Madame de Pompadour and Alexander the Great, these pieces are very striking pieces and deman attention, they would be perfect in a Hotel Lobby or Period Public house. I’m probably most famous for my collection of art depicted Clowns painted in oil and acrylic. These pieces explore the idea of identity and what’s behind the mask. My work is available in originals and now finally in high-quality prints. I’ve already completed many commissions of famous landmarks in Ireland and have created a variety of portraits in memory of my patron’s family members Why not request a commission of your own? I’m happy to work with you to create a piece that speaks to you and represents someone or something that’s important to you. You can send me a message here on Shop In Ireland.A Passion for Painting
by
Peter Mooney
A passion for painting means just that!
To produce paintings that reflect that passion in every piece.
To bring alive the visual excitement that causes a painting to look back at you.
To reflect it’s inner light out into your world as you ponder it’s content and meaning, to find that moment when you know this is a piece I want to have in my collection, to adorn a wall, to add to the magic of a special room, to delight a special friend with a piece that says it all.
No matter what your reasons, I believe this is a shared experience, between the Artist, the painting and the recipient.
It is the making of Magic!
