Shop in Ireland is an online marketplace featuring independent Irish retailers who all share the same vision of delivering high-quality products, services and experiences.

Shop in Ireland makes it easy for people to give meaningful gifts to those that they love and gives local businesses the chance to be part of the global economy.

The Irish diaspora is believed to encompass over 70 million people and the connection to the motherland transcends generations. We want the Irish abroad (and of course those at home too!) who are looking to swerve the multi-national corporations, to “Shop in Ireland” and support local entrepreneurs and communities across the island.

In October 2020, after a very tough year, Retailers and other small businesses were facing into another lockdown right during the Christmas selling season.

The idea to create a Facebook group to help these small businesses advertise their products online was born.

With online selling being new to many small businesses this was a quick and easy way to advertise their products and find customers without the expense of creating websites or online advertising.

With the Facebook group quickly amassing 200,000+ members it was time to move to a website, where sellers can put all their products for sale and show their full range in an easy to browse experience for customers.

Teresa’s sister Aoife joined the team, followed by Craig Murray Web design who built the site in record time and has become an integral part of the new Shop in Ireland website.

Our aim at www.shopinireland.ie is to create an active and vibrant online marketplace which showcases the vast array of products available in Ireland. We believe that our Facebook Group was only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the produce available on our own doorsteps.

Small businesses bring character and individuality to a Community and we would like to bring that community spirit to life, online.
