In 2020, I started to draw hands when we couldn't hold the hands of those we loved.
First it was grandparents holding their grandchildrens' hands and then it grew to a collection of hand portraits.

Hi, I'm Mary. I’m a portrait artist from Dublin, living in Ratoath, Co Meath. I work from my home studio where I create drawings of what matters to you. I started drawing hands in Lockdown as a hopeful symbol of connection to those we love, even when we were disconnected. Now I draw hands to represent the bonds that are important to you - a mother and child, a grandparent and their grandchild, holding hands with someone you've lost, a couple in love...
