Cyanotype of fern

Unique handmade cyanotype print of Soft Shield-fern. Imprint of nature and light on paper. Printed from life, a very large fern printed on 6 x A4 sheets. Final print size 16″ x 34.5″ or 40cm x 88cm. Unframed. Cyanotype printing is one of the oldest photographic printing processes in the history of photography. The distinctive feature of the print is its shade of cyan blue, which gives us the word blueprint. The process involves brushing on cyanotype sensitiser onto watercolour paper, arranging the fern and exposing to ultraviolet light,  then washing in water to fix the image. Magic!
