Have you ever met a pooka?
Well if you have ever spent any amount of time in Ireland chances are you have you just don't know it.
A pooka is one of the most intriguing characters in the vast landscape of Irish folklore.
This ancient fairy creature is a mischievous and elusive gifted prophesier. A shape-shifting spirt able to take on any form, animal or human.
In recent years they have been known to frequent bars, starting up conversations with unsuspecting customers causing mischief then disappearing.
How would you recognise a pooka? Not many have the power to spot one but they are there under old boats and on bollards by the Claddagh. Or hiding under the frost on upturned currachs. Even on the beach.
I use my camera to get up close and personal to capture what the eye sometimes doesn't see.
I have named these prints. Can you see what I see or maybe something different?
