I turned this piece by hand using Ash wood which I sourced locally and responsibly here in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. This piece was turned from "green" wood and allowed to air dry naturally. During the drying time, the wood moves and gives a distinctive wavy edge, this gives the piece a very natural form. The outside of the piece was scorched with fire to give it a very distinctive colour and a wonderful texture. The natural opening or "eye" in the bowl and grain texture is enhanced during this process.
The piece is finished with hard wearing Danish oil and buffed to a showpiece shine with carnauba wax.
The bowl is intended too be used as a decorative piece. However, it is finished with food safe Danish oil and wax.
Dimensions: 9 1/2" W × 4 1/2" H

From Forest to Form
Welcome to my shop. I believe that every fallen tree has a second life waiting to be revealed. I specialize in handcrafted woodturned pieces that celebrate the raw, untamed beauty of the Irish landscape.
I work with locally sourced logs and enjoy bringing a piece from raw timber through to a finished piece. My preference is to let the grain, shape, and imperfections of the wood guide each piece.
Rooted in Ireland
Every bowl, platter, and hollow form in my collection begins its journey in Irish soil. I work exclusively with locally sourced Irish hardwoods.
By focusing on native species, I capture the specific character of the Irish seasons in every grain.
My Work
No two pieces in my shop are identical. The unique knots, burrs, and growth rings ensure that you are holding a one-of-a-kind heirloom. Whether it’s a functional salad bowl designed for daily use or a decorative hollow form intended as a centerpiece, my pieces are built to last a lifetime, evolving in character and warmth as they age.
Thank you for visiting my shop!
