A little piece of history… Turquoise is one of the first gemstones ever mined.  It is thought that it could date back more than 3000 years as both Chinese artisans were carving it and Iran was mining it then.  It has been used for thousands of years by the ancient Egyptians who adorned themselves in turquoise jewellery.  They also buried fine pieces with mummies.  Today, In the United States, the Native American Tribes, especially the Navajo and Zuni peoples produce the most renowned pieces using turquoise with silver to make bracelets, necklaces and other jewellery as well as belt buckles. Turquoise has been long prized for its colour which varies from sky blue to pale blue, to greenish blue, or pale green, depending on the quantities of iron and copper within it.
