New Beginnings Linen/Cotton Cushion
‘New Beginnings’ is a generous, eco-friendly 50cm x 50 cm square, Irish linen and cotton mix cushion. Handmade in Ireland. Taking inspiration from nature and the fields surrounding my home, it features my original linoprint of an ‘Irish Oak’ branch from an old Oak, at home in Leitrim. ‘New Beginnings’ is from my first collection ‘Field Studies’. My ‘New Beginnings’ linen/cotton mix cushion is natural in colour and printed on the front using eco-friendly pigment inks which are kind to the skin and the environment. The back is plain. It fastens with a hidden zip so you can remove the cover for washing and can be gently hand-washed.
It comes with a 50 x 50 cm duck feather cushion insert and comes with a care instructions. My cushions are ready to gift and come with a handmade label, wrapped in 100% recycled, acid free tissue paper and tied with a natural twine. Posted in a 100% compostable, mailer bag.
'Field studies’ is a collection of original prints & pen and ink drawings of native wild plants, drawn from life, growing in a meadow in Leitrim. I hope that my work will share a sense of empathy with nature and a focus of attention on local biodiversity.

Hi, my name is Anna-Marie O’Rourke and I am a full time artist and designer from Leitrim.
I am delighted to introduce ‘Field Studies’ my first small collection of original botanical prints, fine art Giclée prints, cards and linen textile pieces. The collection is based on a series of original pen and ink drawings of a variety of species of native wild plants, drawn from life which are growing in a meadow at home.
I hope that my collection will share a sense of empathy with nature and a focus of attention on local biodiversity. With this work, I aim to create pieces which have a low impact on the environment and are sustainable.
My work is rooted in the Leitrim landscape where I was born and raised. I’ve always been interested in the small things in nature. I love to look at details, lichen growing on Hawthorn or tiny native plants which are often overlooked.
My parents come from small, low intensity, farming backgrounds in Leitrim. This method of farming which went back generations, was good for biodiversity. It instilled my passion for biodiversity and how we impact on it. I work from my small studio in Leitrim overlooking ‘Sliabh an Iarainn’ mountain.
I studied a BA Textile Design (Hons) at GMIT, Galway and a H.Dip Art Education for Teachers at LSAD, Limerick and I previously worked as an arts manager and art teacher. For me, supporting local businesses is important so I use quality suppliers local to me.
I hope that anyone looking for an original piece which is 100% Irish, made local and eco- friendly can find the perfect solution in my work.
