Granny Griffin's Childrens Knits

Granny Griffin is 93 and has been knitting since she was 4 years of age.  As you will see when you visit her shop, she  knits beautiful cardigans and jumpers for babies and young children.  One of the reasons she still continues to knit is so that she can contribute financially to the wonderful and much needed Alice Leahey’s centre for homeless men.  This is a small place where they can drop in for a cup of tea, a little warmth and a kind and friendly ear.  They can also have some of their health and hygiene issues looked after. So when you buy her knitware, you are joining her in contributing to a very worthy cause also.  She is a perfectionist when it comes to the pieces she knits so the quality of her knitware is second to none.  Please have a browse and see if there is something special that you would like to have.

Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova

Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova is a visual artist originally from Slovakia, living in Ireland over 15 years, creating three-dimensional paper artwork.  Miriam graduated as a Furniture Designer and was always inspired by geometry and mathematics, subjects which run strongly in her family, with her mother and sister who both worked as math teachers. Miriam’s work, also known as Paper On Edge, is based on an old traditional technique of paper quilling. By combining this with her passion for mathematics and geometry, she introduces a whole new visual art language.  Each piece is based on a specific mathematical relationship, symmetry or sequence, and usually based on basic platonic shapes. To create each finished artwork she spends hours designing, cutting, folding and glueing paper, in order to achieve the required depth and movement. She approaches the process with a mixture of curiosity and precision. Some pieces are created intuitively, while others are pre-designed with every single cut carefully measured. Colours and textures are architectonically brought alive, fusing mathematics and art together.

Laura Conneely Art

My background story: With a surname like Conneely I originate from a small town in the West of Ireland. Most of my inspiration comes from my love of the rugged Irish landscape. This has been instilled in me from a very young age growing up in Connemara.  I try to create pieces that bring a sense of peace and harmony into everyday life. I am so proud of my heritage and I am passionate about sharing our culture and scenes of our beautiful country in my art. I am a keen photographer and creative writer and where possible I like to incorporate all three. My work: I returned to College as a mature student in 2016 for a two year full time course in Creative Textiles. This course has opened the doors to a whole new world of colour and creativity for me. It has been the most challenging and hugely enjoyable two years of my life. Since graduating I have found that the course has hugely broadened my knowledge of Art, Craft & Design Industry and I have found a new passion for creative textile art. For me it’s all about the colour, volume and texture in every piece to give it a unique three dimensional layered effect.    It is important to me to use sustainable/natural /upcycled materials where possible.

Caulfield Country Boards

Caulfield Joinery was established in 1978 by John Caulfield, the original joiner. It was a highly successful business producing quality hardwood kitchens, windows, doors and furniture. Pearse Caulfield, the joiner/philosopher, joined the family business from a young age. On completion of an apprenticeship in joinery he then decided to return to university while still working as a joiner. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, in 2012, gaining a BA in philosophy. Louise Caulfield, the scientist/baker, studied a BA in natural science, specialising in geology, and graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2007. She lived in Western Australia for a number of years working in an iron ore mine! She returned to Ireland in 2011 and the keen baker completed an MSc in environmental science in 2015. The first wooden board was made in 2012, after Louise called upon the joinery shop to assist in making a couple of serving boards for displaying baked goods, which she was selling at a local country market.  Customers at the market soon a showed keen interest in the boards and began enquiring about where they could be purchased... and so Caulfield Country Boards was born. Due to a downturn in the economy the joinery business slowed down considerably. We saw a niche in the market for locally crafted wooden boards for cutting and serving, which are both functional and beautiful. Our products are now stocked in several shops and we supply restaurants, bars and cafés with a wide range of wooden dining accessories. We have grown into a successful business and we hope to continue expanding.

Knots and cords by V

My name is Veronika and I am a creator of ‘Knots and cords by V’ and I am based in Dublin. My adventure with cotton cords and macrame started in April 2020 when I was stuck at home with no work because of covid.  It was first my hobby that with time changed into my passion. I still can’t get my head around the way I can create things with only a string. Most of the items in my shop are a great gift idea not only for boho lovers. All the pieces are handmade with 100% recyclable cotton cord. All products in my shop are made to order. Once you purchase a product, please send me a message with the colour you’d like to pick for your piece. I hope you will like the items in my shop! Veronika x

East Coast Sea Glass

Hi, I’m Niamh, a lifelong Thalassophile and Sea Glass Addict!  As a child I collected Sea Glass, or “jewels”, as I called them, and I took great delight when I found them half hidden, glistening in the sand. Now, years later, and living on the County Wicklow  coast, I still take great delight when I find Sea Glass treasure on the beach, and wonder about the story behind each unique piece.  Did it originate from a vase once sat lovingly on a table decades before, or a glass, a bottle, or a 100 year old Crystal Chandelier!  I use the best pieces I find in my art, with beautifully smoothed edges and a frosted surface, which means they’ve been rolling around in the sea and scultped by the waves for many years.  Heart shapes are a favourite of mine to find, it still amazes me how a broken piece of glass can be sculpted by the waves into into a little glass heart. Sea Glass is becoming harder to find as glass is now commonly recycled instead of ending up in the sea. Each picture is unique, I love making new designs and can make very personalised pictures, customised exactly to your needs.  The pictures make a unique and special gift, and when the light catches the glass, they look gorgeous. Enjoy browsing, check out my Instagram and Facebook pages for many more designs and please contact me if you have a query about customised designs.  Thank you. https://www.facebook.com/EastCoastSeaGlass/ https://www.instagram.com/east_coast_sea_glass/
